School Uniforms:Ouch to the Budget

Published by jckat at 8:30 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Today was a successful day. Ariel did her standardized testing and Chris had his appointment with the Guidance Counselor.  They decided to test him for Honors math class. Tomorrow he will know if he does a regular Math or Advanced.  Either way is fine with him. It will depend on his test and on which one will fit in his schedule.  They were not able to get him into a band or music class but after we left they called to say the Band teachers are very interested in working with him after school because it is not often that they get the chance to have a Tuba player. We’ll work out the details of that tomorrow. He also chose his language to take and chose Chinese. I was surprised.  I hope it is not overwhelming because to me it seems it will be a tough language to learn and he is starting mid year in a beginning class.  But he also has a study hall since so many classes were full. That will give him the chance to work more on the Chinese.  He will have eight classes but they each meet three times a week. The blocks are pretty long though. Tomorrow when he gets his schedule I’ll try to explain how it works. The classes are not at the same time from day to day.

After the testing we took both of them to the Uniform Shop.  Now that we have fitted, paid for, and picked up these uniforms, we have officially issued the order of NO GROWING ALLOWED.  Good grief what a hit to the bank account.  Between uniforms for both and PE uniforms, we laid down 20,000 pesos, right at $400. OUCH but thankfully they should both be able to wear in the fall also.  Tomorrow we’ll get a picture. The uniforms are polo shirts and kakhi style shorts, skorts, or capris. We bought Chris one pair of pants, but the rest shorts.  Ariel got capris and skorts. They didn’t have pants for the girls. I was surprised. Hopefully she won’t be to cold.

Life in the Philippines: More tomorrow about Chris’s first day of school and how Ariel’s schedule looks. She will start school on Monday.
